Fervent Zeal | 1-6-2011
Today is my first fast of 2011. This not necessarily a targeted fast but more of a “flesh-you’re-not-the-boss-of-me” kind of fast. I have set myself to fast more in 2011. I’ve never been a big “fast-er”. I love the idea of it and believe in the power of it, but never really put it into practice. That all changes this year.

Burning is for Dead Men
Have you ever had to start a campfire? Have you noticed that wood that is the most dry/dead is the best to catch fire? This was a revelation to me this morning. The more I die to my flesh and sinful desires, the more ready I am for the fire of God. But, sometimes even dead and dry wood is hard to burn, that’s why sometimes we may have to add an accelerant. For me the accelerant is the Bible. The more I read and meditate on God’s word, the more I am receptive to the flame of Holy Spirit.
