Don’t be a doctor that only tells you how bad the different diseases are, be the one who offers the cure!
Sin is bad. Try not to sin. We get it.
Constantly telling people the different kinds of sins and how bad they are is not necessarily going to make them not participate in them. You have to give the answer and show them something better. You must tell them of how grace delivers us from sin. You must tell them of how Jesus is better. You must tell them how they are dead to sin and don’t have to answer it’s call.
I’ve quoted it before, but Tullian Tchividjian has said, “Everything we need, in Christ we already possess.”
For any earthly pleasure you want there is a better heavenly alternative. We have to train our minds and bodies to turn to the real thing rather than settling for the knock-off version.
But the bottom line is, you don’t have to sin. Will you? Odds are yes. But, there is forgiveness. There is grace. Should you continue to sin? NO! There is grace!
Grace is not only the forgiveness of sin but the power to overcome it! That’s good news!
