Harvest: How To Have Great Joy

Great is the joy of harvest.

Happy are the reapers who fill their arms with the liberality of heaven. The Psalmist tells us that the harvest is the crowning of the year. Surely these crowning mercies call for crowning thanksgiving!

Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

Today, I leave for an outreach in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. I am super excited about this. The Rock Family Worship Center, the Huntsville Dream Center, The Ramp and more will be represented. Since I first heard about his event last year, I’ve been interested in going. Please check out this video below from last year’s outreach.

Please keep everyone who will be going in your prayers for strength, safety, and a great harvest.

Hope: How To Gain a New Outlook on Life

13I pray that God, the source of all hope, will infuse your lives with an abundance of joy and peace in the midst of your faith so that your hope will overflow through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13, Voice

Filled with hope.
Overflowing with hope.

Expression |

Expression: How to Get the Inside Out

Jesus does not call us to do what he did, but to be as he was, permeated with love. Then the doing of what he did and said becomes the natural expression of who we are in him.

– Dallas Willard, A Divine Conspiracy

We’ve covered this topic several times on this blog. This is a favorite topic if you will.

Walk |

Walk: How To Have Fun on the Journey

He turns exile into ecstasy, and banishment into bliss.

Charles Spurgeon

Mourning to joy
Weeping to laughing
Orphans to sons
Outsiders to insiders
Death to life
Wilderness to paradise

4 But God, with the unfathomable richness of His love and mercy focused on us, 5united us with the Anointed One and infused our lifeless souls with life—even though we were buried under mountains of sin—and saved us by His grace. 6He raised us up with Him and seated us in the heavenly realms with our beloved Jesus the Anointed, the Liberating King. 7He did this for a reason: so that for all eternity we will stand as a living testimony to the incredible riches of His grace and kindness that He freely gives to us by uniting us with Jesus the Anointed.

Ephesians 2:4-7

We do not experience ecstasy outside of Christ, but only inside of Him. We can’t truly have bliss without Jesus, but only with Him.

Believe: How To Hold On When The Wind Blows

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

This is our faith. This is our tether. This is our bedrock.

Language |

Language: How To Say the Right Thing

Because you have satisfied me, God, I promise to do everything you say.

Psalm 119:57 Message

Actions that flow from satisfaction bring joy not burden.

My wife is an “Acts of Service” receiver of love. If I take out the trash or wash the dishes, I’m showing that I love her. But, this doesn’t work if I’m doing it begrudgingly or with a bad attitude. Am I overflowing with love and joy while hauling stinky trash to the street? No. But, when she sees that I’m speaking her language she hears love. Since I know that Anna loves me I “want” to take out the trash, because that’s the language she understands.

Action: How To Get a Better Deal

“Because of his boundless love, Jesus became what we are that he might make us to be what he is.”

Why did Jesus come? What made the Creator come to His creation? What caused the All Powerful to become helpless? Love in action is all that matters.

Save: How To Break the Rules and Win

When I go to the pool I don’t ask the lifeguard to be my personal savior if he sees me drowning he saves me that’s what he does. Jesus is the savior of the world my faith does not create his forgiveness, it accepts it.

Connor Shram

I used to be on the swim team when I was younger. I was pretty good at it if I do say so myself. During my tenure on the team, we went through an abbreviated lifeguard training class. It was hard but I loved it. They taught us the first rule of lifeguarding.

Don’t drown with a drowning victim. Save yourself first.

Liberal: How To Give Things Away

The receivers of grace should be the best  and most liberal givers of grace.

As many of you know, I have 4 children. I am a blessed man. My third child, Oliver, is my cuddle bug. He likes to be held. At night, we rock him for a few minutes, talk about the day, and prepare him for sleep. Recently, he has wanted us to sing Amazing Grace to him. Sometimes, I sing all the words out loud other times I just hum the melody. He likes both. I do too.

Feast: How To Be Peace in War

Feasting is a form of spiritual warfare.

In the Christian/Jewish religious calendar we have more feasts than fasts. This is a good thing. I’d much rather feast than fast.

You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.

Psalm 23:5 NLT
