Jesus is not impressed by our success in anything other than love.

What does success look like in the kingdom of God? Loving God.
What does succeeding feel like in the kingdom of God? Loving others.
What does a successful life in the kingdom of God contain? Love.
It’s love front to back.
Jesus commanded us to love one another. So, we try. And fail. But, to continuing to try is the goal. It’s easy for me to cop out and say that a person is difficult or evil, but that doesn’t excuse me from loving them.
The love that we’ve received didn’t stop because of the level of difficulty or evilness. Love came to us because of and in spite of my difficulty and evilness.
This is My commandment,
That you love one another,
That your joy may be full.
Jesus’ commandment of love to us was for us to go “all in” with love, to put all of our “love” chips on the table, and to take a “love” leap of faith.
By loving this way, will we be hurt? Possibly.
By loving this way, will we be vulnerable? Yes.
By loving this way, will we be fulfilled? Absolutely.
When Jesus’ commanded us to love He attached a promise: FULL JOY!
“I’ve told you these things for a purpose: that my joy might be your joy, and your joy wholly mature. This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you. This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends. You are my friends when you do the things I command you. I’m no longer calling you servants because servants don’t understand what their master is thinking and planning. No, I’ve named you friends because I’ve let you in on everything I’ve heard from the Father.”
John 15:11-15, Message
The best way to have a joy-filled life is to love others and love God!
