Thankful or How To Have a Happy Heart

Because a thankful heart is a happy heart!
I’m glad for what I have, that’s an easy way to start!
For the love that He shares as He listens to my prayers
That’s why I say thanks everyday!

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking on thankfulness lately. I have a lot to be thankful for.

Healthy, growing family
Great job
Beautiful home
A running car

…are among the list.

Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, dreams are forever.

Walt Disney

This week we are taking a family vacation to Walt Disney World. A place known for being happy. I may be more excited than the kids. Walt Disney was a pioneer of creative thinking and imagination. His life has inspired millions. His reach is not only with animators and artists, but with engineers, actors, musicians, and countless other areas.

The main thing I glean from Walt’s legacy, is the idea of “staying young”. Young at heart, young at mind, just young.

He forgives your sins—every one.
He heals your diseases—every one.
He redeems you from hell—saves your life!
He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown.
He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal.
He renews your youth—you’re always young in his presence.

Psalm 103:3-5 Message

He heals, He redeems, He crowns, He wraps, He renews: and this is just barely scratching the surface of what all God does and has done. The idea that the Lord satisfies us so completely that our youth is renewed is mind-blowing to me.

God = The Fountain of Youth= Bobby’s Mind-Blown!

God tells us to glorify him. “Glorify” means “to make a big deal of.” When someone makes a big deal of you, it fills up your heart with joy.

But why does God need us to make a big deal of him? Why does he need us to get joy?

He doesn’t. In the beginning God the Father and Jesus, his Son, together with the Holy Spirit, were already there — a loving family, glorifying each other in this wonderful Dance of Joy.

No. God didn’t create us so he could get joy — he already had it.

He created us so he could share it.

He knows it’s the thing your heart most needs to be happy. When God says, “Glorify me!”, he’s really saying, “Be filled with Joy!”

He’s inviting us into his Forever Happiness.

His secret purpose framed from the very beginning is to bring us to our full glory” (1 Corinthians 2:7 NEB).
