You Need to Believe What You Preach

You Need to Believe What You Preach

Eventually, how you live will “out preach” what you preach. Preach what you live.

Jesus is famous for a lot of things. Healing the sick. Raising the dead. Casting out devils. Dying for our sins. Being raised from the dead. Ascending to the Father.

He’s also pretty famous for how He interacted with the Pharisees. Let’s talk about that.

Let’s state this up front: Jesus loves everyone.

Inside

Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.
(MESSAGE)

You see, all have sinned, and all their futile attempts to reach God in His glory fail. Yet they are now saved and set right by His free gift of grace through the redemption available only in Jesus the Anointed.
(VOICE)

Since all have sinned and are falling short of the honor and glory which God bestows and receives.
[All] are justified and made upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace (His unmerited favor and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus
(AMPLIFIED)

Because all people have sinned, they have fallen short of God’s glory. They receive God’s approval freely by an act of his kindness through the price Christ Jesus paid to set us free from sin.
(GW)

All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory, but all are treated as righteous freely by his grace because of a ransom that was paid by Christ Jesus.
(CEB)

Everyone has sinned and is far away from God’s saving presence. But by the free gift of God’s grace all are put right with him through Christ Jesus, who sets them free.
(GNT)

Everyone is in the same boat; their distorted behavior is proof of a lost blueprint.
Jesus Christ is proof of God’s grace gift; he redeemed the glory of God in human life; mankind condemned is now mankind justified because of the ransom paid by Christ Jesus!
(MIRROR)

Romans 3:23-24

I hope this helps get the paint the picture that through Jesus your sins are cancelled and you’ve been brought inside the family. His design from the beginning was a family. His will from the start was you, perfected. Now, because of Jesus’ finished work of the cross, that’s exactly how he sees you.

Perfect family.

Cargo | BobbyShirley.com

Cargo

You must protect the outside from dangers but also deal with dangers that can be on the inside to fully protect the cargo.

I was talking to Anna the other day and somehow we got to the topic of circling the wagons. The phrase “circle the wagons” originated back in American pioneer times when wagon trains formed into a circle for protection. The idea of protecting the external is great, but what if while you are busy protecting the outside from danger there is a snake in the wagon with your wife and child? What good would it do, if by only protecting the outside, you left the inside open to danger?

Catch the foxes for us,
the little foxes that ruin vineyards.
Our vineyards are blooming.

Song of Solomon 2:15 GW

This verse is one that is often used about taking care of external issues. This is a great one. But then, there’s a statement by Jesus that made me think.

I will not talk with you much more, for the prince (evil genius, ruler) of the world is coming. And he has no claim on Me. [He has nothing in common with Me; there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and he has no power over Me.]*

John 14:30 AMP
*emphasis mine

Notice the bolded statement? That’s the kicker. That’s the statement that got me. Is there anything in me that belongs to or is in common with the devil? If there is and I do not deal with it with the help of Jesus then I am not fully protecting the valuable cargo that I carry.

I’m not saying to be sin conscious. What I’m saying is that with the help of Jesus get rid of anything on the inside or out that could destroy you or the gift that He has given to you. Be Jesus conscious. He knows the best way to protect his cargo.
