When You Find Your Tribe Your Life Is More Awesome

Find your tribe and love them hard.

Finding your tribe can take a while. Finding your tribe is vital to our survival.

So, what is a tribe?

In his book Tribes, Seth Godin describes a tribe as “a group of people connected to one another, connected to a leader, and connected to an idea.”

9 Ways Babies Will Make You Question Everything

9 Ways Babies Will Make You Question Everything

Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.

Elizabeth Stone

Being a dad of 4 awesome kids is one of the best things in my life while at the same time one of the most stressful. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. But, I do wish I was a little more prepared.

Let me give you a few things that I have learned that may help you.

Start buying diapers the day after you find out you’re pregnant.
Seriously. Babies go through diapers and wipes like a fat man goes through Oreos. Also, buy size 1 and 2, don’t buy a ton of newborn size. Pro tip: SAM’s Club usually has really good deals.

Learn From a Loser How To Win At Marriage

Learn From a Former Loser How To Win At Marriage

“There is no more lovely, friendly or charming relationship, communion or company, than that of a good marriage.”
Martin Luther

Following up on last week’s post about marriage, I have some more thoughts.

Anna and I have learned a lot in our 21+ years of dating/marriage. Most of what we’ve learned has been the hard way. Still, I fail at something every single day but I’m trying to get better. I hope that what I’ve learned and am continuing to learn will help someone. I’m just a former loser, who’s learning, trying to show others how to win.

Make sure you’re on the same page.
You don’t have to be on the same line. Just make sure you’re both in the same book and same page.

What I Wish Someone Had Told Me Before Marriage

I am so thankful for my marriage. Is it easy? No. Is it fun? Sometimes. Is it worth it? Absolutely!

As of this writing, Anna and I have been married for over 11 years. We dated for about 10 years before that. With all that time we’ve spent together, I would have thought we’d know each other better. Marriage is a journey. Marriage is a quest to know each other better.

Here a few things that I wish I had known before I got married. Maybe they’ll help you now and in the future.

How To Excel At Loving What You Do

You are not defined by what you do, but you are defined by how you do it.

Scott Silcox

When I heard this statement I was both shocked and encouraged. Shocked, because I was forced to examine how I do things that I like and dislike. Encouraged, because I had room to grow.

Let's Drink Our Fill This Evening

Let’s Drink To The Full This Evening

“Your love is better than wine.” Song of Solomon 1:2

Nothing gives the believer so much joy as fellowship with Christ.

He has enjoyment as others have in the common mercies of life; he can be glad both in God’s gifts and God’s works. But in all these separately, yes, and in all of them added together, he does not find such substantial delight as in the matchless person of his Lord Jesus. He has wine which no vineyard on earth ever yielded; he has bread which all the cornfields of Egypt could never bring forth. Where can such sweetness be found as we have tasted in communion with our Beloved?

How to Give Your Neighbor Exactly What They Want

I once dreamed of launching revolutions, sparking movements, mobilizing the masses, and changing everything. Now I’ve learned the beauty and profound significance of simply loving my neighbor.

Jim Palmer

There’s nothing wrong with revolutions, movements, mass outbreaks, or turning culture on its head. But none of that is worth much if you fail to reach your neighbor. I don’t mean “reach your neighbor” in the sense of making another notch in your spiritual belt. It’s time to love everyone without an ulterior motive. Is this possible? I’d like to think so.

How To Function When Your Heart Hurts

How To Function When Your Heart Hurts

No matter how tattered a heart becomes by the punches of life, Jesus has never encountered an impossible case.

Christa Black GiffordHEART MADE WHOLE

Heart hurt is an interesting phenomena, for some it is life-crushing and to others it’s crippling, and yet others it’s unexplainable. I’ve experienced my own heart hurt. I’ve managed to recover, but it’s not easy. What do I mean by heart hurt? It could be called depression, offense, bitterness, or frustration. What ever you want to call it, it’s not fun and no one wants it. I want you to know that it’s OK to not be OK, but it’s not OK to stay there.

So, how do you deal with it and try function? Let’s dive in.

3 Direct Questions Every Christian Should Answer Easily

Can I be honest with you? Evangelism isn’t one of my strong passions.

I don’t have what you call as “consuming burden for the lost.” I want them to hear and be saved, but it’s not one of my overwhelming compulsions. I know people that want to visit every person everywhere and tell them about Jesus, I don’t have “that”. Does this make me a bad Christian? I don’t know, maybe. However, I do believe that we, as Christians, should be able to answer some direct questions about our faith and what we believe when asked. Once we can answer these questions easily, it will make evangelism so much easier.
