Transformed

“Through His incarnate life, death, resurrection, and ascension Jesus Christ has established his relationship with His Father, His relationship with the Holy Spirit, and His relationship with fallen humanity and broken creation inside our darkness and sin, unrighteousness and treachery, using our own rejection of Him as His way of relationship. Submitting Himself to our murder, He transformed our betrayal into our adoption, and our fallen humanity into the temple of the Holy Spirit.”

C. Baxter Kruger

For the longest time I misunderstood salvation. I thought being saved meant that I could finally wipe the sweat off my brow that I wasn’t going to hell anymore. I thought being saved meant that God was no longer mad at me. I thought that being saved meant I was going to heaven.

Being saved doesn’t mean I was being saved from hell. I was being saved from sin.

Being saved doesn’t mean that God is no longer mad at me. I am waking up to the truth that God is my Father, head-over-heels love, and never mad at me.

Being saved doesn’t mean that I’m going to heaven when I die. I am in heaven on earth and I’m bringing heaven to every situation that I’m in.

The goal of the salvation experience is metanoia. Your mind being transformed.

Do not allow current religious tradition to mold you into its pattern of reasoning. Like an inspired artist, give attention to the detail of God’s desire to find expression in you. Become acquainted with perfection. To accommodate yourself to the delight and good pleasure of him will transform your thoughts afresh from within.

Romans 12:2 MIRROR

And, one final quote.

“Yes, transformation is often more about unlearning than learning, which is why the religious traditions call it “conversion” or “repentance.”
― Richard Rohr

Thinking | BobbyShirley.com

Thinking

He sees me. He knows me. He loves me.

This is what I have been thinking about  for a while now. If I can fully understand this it will change everything.

Let’s dig in.

Because | BobbyShirley.com

Because

The gospel is not an if-then statement.
The gospel is a because-therefore pronouncement.

Gerhard Forde

This is point blank truth.

This is bare metal good.

This is truth. And thank God it’s true.

Herald

Hark the herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled”
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
“Christ is born in Bethlehem”
Hark! The herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!”

Christ by highest heav’n adored
Christ the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of a Virgin’s womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel
Hark! The herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!”

Hail the heav’n-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings
Ris’n with healing in His wings
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! The herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!”

This hymn drops gospel bombs out of the gate!

“God and sinners reconciled”

Then the song doesn’t stop!

“Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel”

This song is a powerhouse! Finally dropping the whole truth.

“Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth”

What a whole, complete, musical retelling of the gospel! Beginning to end, top to bottom, chocked full of the glorious gospel of Jesus!
