O, to grace how great a debtor
daily I’m constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.

– Robert Robinson

There are times that it’s easy to drift or not feel as close to God. It’s happened to me. I think it happens to most people if we are being honest.

It’s important to understand that we are one with Christ. Period. This truth is a brain exercise to maintain to keep in the front of your mental activities.

Our “bent” is to wander. We get distracted. It happens. But, no matter the state we find ourselves in the truth remains, that we are filled with Christ.

For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.

Colossians 2:9-10

It’s His goodness that keeps us. It’s His goodness that allows us to wander and then gently draws us back. It’s His goodness that tells us that no matter our doubts and fears He is still here. He has chosen to tie Himself to us.
